how to calculate cutting length of stirrup ?
here, we have a section of a column,
the dimensions are:-
for calculating cutting length of stirrup, a and b are considered, from inner to inner face of stirrup bar.
now we will calculate length of a and b
here, we have a section of a column,
the dimensions are:-
Dia of stirrup bar = 8mm
Column size = 450 X 400 mm
Clear cover = 40 mm
hook = 10dfor calculating cutting length of stirrup, a and b are considered, from inner to inner face of stirrup bar.
a =
450 – (2 X clear cover) – (2X dia of bar)
= 450 – (2 X 40) – (2 X8)
= 354
b = 400
– (2 X clear cover) – (2X dia of bar)
= 400 – (2 X 40) –(2X 8)
= 304
now , cutting length of stirrup = 2a + 2b +hook - bends
= (2 X 354) + (2 X 304) + 2(10d) - 2(3d) -3(2d)
=(2
X 354) + (2 X 304) + 2(10 X 8) - 2(3 X 8) -3(2
X 8)
=708+608+160-48-48
=1380 mm
in this way you can calculate length of stirrup.
