How to calculate number of bricks, cement and sand for brickwork?
Length of the wall = 5m
Height of the wall=3m
Wall thickness= 200mm=0.2m
Cement mortar= 1:6
size of brick:-
Without mortar= 19cm X 9cm X 9cm
with
mortar = 20cm X 10cm X 10cm
Volumes:-
brick(without
mortar) =
19cm X 9cm X 9cm
=1539cm^3
=0.001539 m^3
brick
(with mortar)= 20cm X 10cm X 10cm
=2000cm^3 =
0.002 m^3
wall
= 5m X 3m X 0.2m= 3
m^3
No. of bricks=(volume of wall)/(volume of brick with mortar)
=3/0.002 =
1500 nos.
Now, we will calculate amount of mortar
in this wall
Volume of mortar= volume of wall-volume
of bricks(without mortar) in wall
Volume of total bricks= no. of bricks X
volume of 1 brick without mortar
=1500 X
0.001539 m^3 = 2.3085 m^3
Therefore,
Volume of mortar= 3 m^3 - 2.3085 m^3 = 0.6915 m^3
Now, the volume of mortar we got is wet
volume, And to calculate the quantity of cement and fine aggregate in the
mortar we have to convert this wet volume into dry volume.
So, to convert wet volume into dry
volume, multiply the wet volume with 1.33
i.e., dry volume= wet volume X 1.33
=0.6915
X 1.33 = 0.9196
m^3
Calculation of quantity:
Cement =(proportion of cement)/(sum of ratio of mortar) X dry volume
X density of cement
=1/(1+6) X 0.9196m^3 X 1440kg/m^3
=189.1kg=
3.7 bag=4 bag (weight of 1
bag is 50 kg)
Sand =6/(1+6) X 0.9196
m^3
=0.788m^3
so, no. of bricks required is 1500
quantity of cement is 4 bag
sand = 0.788m^3
